INTERFAITH MINISTRIES FOR GREATER HOUSTON TO RAISE FUNDS FOR REFUGEES AT FOR ALL HUMANITY LUNCHEON

Islamic Relief USA will be honored

HOUSTON (Sept. 3, 2019)Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston (Interfaith Ministries) will host its annual For All Humanity Luncheon on Tuesday, October 15, at the Junior League of Houston. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are now available. The event benefits Interfaith Ministries’ Refugee Services programs.

With a theme of Empowering Women, the luncheon will honor Islamic Relief USA with the 2019 Humanitarian of the Year Award for being the lead sponsor of Interfaith Ministries’ Refugee Women’s Empowerment Group. Indrani Goradia, founder of Indrani’s Light Foundation, will provide the keynote address.

The Women’s Empowerment Group is designed to prevent isolation, build community, and equip Refugee women with the emotional, cultural, and entrepreneurial support they need to begin a new life in the United States. Activities include monthly meetings, speakers, classes and recreation, on topics ranging from health and fitness to parenting, local resources, employment, small business opportunities and more.

 

Honoree: Islamic Relief USA

Islamic Relief USA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing humanitarian aid in the United States and around the world. Each year they help millions of people in more than 40 countries through efforts such as disaster response and preparedness, food security and livelihood, health and nutrition, education, orphan support, and water, sanitation and hygiene.

As part of their work, Islamic Relief USA has provided generous support to Refugee Services and Interfaith Relations at Interfaith Ministries, serving as lead sponsor for the Women’s Empowerment Group, providing relief for refugees impacted by Hurricane Harvey, and promoting community building by sponsoring the Interfaith Dinner Dialogue series.

Interfaith Ministries has been resettling legal refugees for more than 30 years, in collaboration with Episcopal Migration Ministries and the U.S. State Department. Over 90 percent of these refugees are self-sufficient within six months of arrival.

“We are deeply grateful for the support Islamic Relief USA has provided for Refugee Services,” said Ali Al Sudani, Senior Vice President for Programs and Chief of Staff at Interfaith Ministries. “Their grants lift up the refugee community in Houston and throughout Texas, providing a new path that impacts families for generations.”

 

Keynote Speaker: Indrani Goradia

Indrani Goradia, founder of Indrani’s Light Foundation, will provide a dynamic, interactive address at the luncheon. Raised by an abusive mother, Indrani is passionate about ending violence in families.

Indrani’s Light Foundation seeks to make a difference for everyone affected by family violence, with a special focus on supporting advocates who work with those who have been abused. An author, speaker and certified life coach, Goradia has spoken at events including the World Women’s Health and Development Forum at the United Nations, the USB’s “It’s a Girl” conference in Switzerland, TEDx Port of Spain Conference, the Women Deliver Conference in Copenhagen, and Global India Fund’s “Girl Rising” in Washington, D.C.

 

Event Information: For All Humanity

The 2019 For All Humanity Luncheon will take place Tuesday, October 15, at the Junior League of Houston, 1811 Briar Oaks Lane in Houston, 77027. The event begins with a reception and vendor marketplace at 11:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon and program at noon.

Individual tickets start at $200 per person, with sponsor tables available from $2,500 to $15,000. Sponsors receive a variety of recognition and benefits. All proceeds from the event benefit refugee resettlement and other services of Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston.
