LA MARQUE, Texas (December 15, 2023)Meals on Wheels Galveston County (MOWGC), a program operated by Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, is proud to announce that it has reached a significant milestone by serving over 1,000 clients. This achievement reflects the program’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for senior nutrition in Galveston County.

“Our headquarters in La Marque allows us to continue to meet the growing demand for senior nutrition in Galveston County,” said Marie Mark, Program Manager of Meals on Wheels Galveston County. “Meals on Wheels is more than a meal. It is also a friendly visit, wellness call twice a week, and a resource for assistance services to vulnerable, homebound seniors.”

For several years, MOWGC has been working in partnership with Galveston County to provide meal delivery services. In 2017, MOWGC took on the responsibility of delivering meals to certain seniors in the area, and since then, the program has experienced remarkable growth. In 2021 alone, MOWGC served 550 clients, delivering over 202,719 meals. This year, the program has nearly doubled, serving over 1,000 clients.

Meals on Wheels Galveston County is dedicated to providing free home-delivered meals and additional support to seniors, veterans, and adults with disabilities. Seniors in Galveston County can sign up for this valuable service by calling 281.943.4688 or visiting https://www.imgh.org/lunch/.
