Anne Houang has shown outstanding dedication, hard work, and service within the IM Refugee Services volunteer program. She was indispensable as part of our collaboration on the Green Light Project at Rice University, creating the curriculum and helping to facilitate instruction for 10 weeks of ESL classes for our newly arrived refugee clients. Throughout the project, she served as a familiar and trusted face among the clients, assisted with resume and cover letter writing, and helped to find job prospects for the project participants. Following her role on the Green Light Project, Anne began offering employment mentorship to IM Refugee Services clients, aiding them in their job search. In July, Anne developed an activity to be carried out by IM Refugee Services in partnership with the organization she teaches at, Houston Center for Photography. This activity was featured at FotoFest’s FotoFun Family Day, showcasing the diverse and welcoming nature of Texas. Anne has truly gone above and beyond in her role as a Refugee Services volunteer, and we are lucky to have her!
