If it were not for partnerships, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston would not be able to offer its many services to the great number of people who depend on them. Both donations and volunteers are necessary to deliver meals each week day to 4,200 seniors through the Meals on Wheels program.
The city of Houston was recently affected by unusually cold weather, covering many roads with ice, and preventing Meals on Wheels drivers from reaching a significant number of seniors.
Thanks to a $25,000 donation from Reliant Energy, Meals on Wheels drivers and volunteers from Reliant were able to deliver shelf-stable meals to seniors the week of Jan. 22. With food in hand, our clients will be well-prepared for another cold snap should it come our way!
