WHEN: 9 A.M. Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016

WHERE: First Presbyterian Church parking lot at 5300 Main St. Houston, TX 77004

WHAT: Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston (IM) volunteers, in conjunction with Harris County Area Agency on Aging, are delivering more than 4,000 traditional Thanksgiving turkey meals to homebound seniors during the IM’s Meals on Wheels Thanksgiving Day event.

Volunteers are still needed to deliver meals. Deliveries take about two hours and families are welcome. Volunteers must sign up online at www.imgh.org/thanksgiving.

To help even more, participants can set up an online fundraising page to help sponsor meals for seniors on Thanksgiving Day and beyond.  The organization’s goal is to raise $50,000 for homebound seniors.  Generous corporate sponsors have given their support, including Kroger.

“Across the country each year, Kroger donates 200 million meals to help hungry people in the communities where we live and serve,” said Joy Partain, Kroger’s Public Affairs Manager for Greater Houston/SE Texas. “We’re delighted to help make a happier Thanksgiving possible for Houston’s seniors.”

PLEASE NOTE: Media will have the opportunity to ride along on deliveries.
