How it works
Four things, held together by one habit of showing up
Dinner Dialogues
Small, hosted conversations across traditions, first held in 2007 and back on the calendar this fall. Many of our current board members first came through a Dinner Dialogue.
The Interfaith Network
99 member organizations across the region, from congregations to interfaith councils and university centers, meeting quarterly at a different member’s house of worship each time.
Harmony Week
UN World Interfaith Harmony Week runs Feb. 1 to 7 each year, opening at IM Houston and continuing at member congregations across the city.
About this work
How IM Houston began
IM Houston began when leaders from different faiths saw an unmet need in helping our community. Through the years, whether it was to support civil rights, increased immigration, or helping during disasters, our organization has grown with a common thread based on what we believe together.
When our vulnerable seniors are in need of comfort and a warm meal, provide for them.
When we see those in need of community and a sense of belonging, welcome them.
We believe when those around us are in need of help, serve them.
We are a nonprofit leader composed of diverse individuals who come together to provide services and education to support, welcome and empower those in need.
We have faith in our community and together we connect with one united purpose: to build a stronger Houston through service of others.
We create meaningful connections for those seeking purpose, belonging, and the good that surrounds us waiting to be unleashed.
Where this leads
Dinner Dialogues since 2007. The Interfaith Network of member communities across the region. UN World Interfaith Harmony Week each February. All of it is open, including to people with no religious affiliation at all.
