HOUSTON (April 25, 2019)Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston (Interfaith Ministries) is hosting Operation IMpact 2019 on Saturday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to noon at   distribution centers located around Harris County and Galveston County. Operation IMpact volunteers will be delivering shelf-stable meals and bottled water to 4,300 homebound seniors in preparation for hurricane season.

Employees and volunteers will be loading shelf-stable meals, bottled water and hurricane kits filled with an assortment of items including a document bag, whistles, pens, notepads, emergency action wheel, active shooter event booklet and emergency contact information. Onsite volunteer opportunities are available.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Ali Al Sudani, senior vice president of programs and chief of staff for Interfaith Ministries will be onsite May 4 at 9 a.m. at Interfaith Ministries’ Meals on Wheels location in Midtown Houston to greet volunteers distributing meals, assist with loading cars and answer questions about emergency preparedness.

Operation IMpact sponsors include the Islamic Society of Greater Houston as the title event sponsor, Martin Preferred Foods as the Midtown Houston site sponsor, Alliance of Community Assistance Ministries as the Bear Creek Area site sponsor, Sysco as the water sponsor, Greater Texas Credit Union as a route sponsor, and partners Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management, Harris County Area Agency on Aging and the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services.

Meals will be distributed from six locations throughout Harris and Galveston Counties:

  • Midtown Houston— Meals on Wheels, 3202 San Jacinto St., Houston 77004
  • Galveston County — Carbide Park, 4102 Main St., La Marque 77568
