We are heartbroken. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families in Uvalde whose little children and loved ones were killed or injured in another horrific incident of gun violence. Our country is stunned once again. The hurt is unbearable. We were already reeling from the horrors of hate that killed ten and wounded three in Buffalo, NY, that killed one and wounded others in Orange County, California, and that wounded three in Dallas, TX. These were our brothers and sisters, innocent, living an ordinary day at school, at a grocery store, a church and hair salon, who were killed and wounded in attacks of gun violence. There are no words that can ease the pain, but we can all work together to eradicate hatred through dialogue, service, and collaboration. Let us all recommit to getting to know more about each other, to transforming our community for good through volunteerism, and to helping ensure our community is a place in which people feel welcome and safe.
