Services

Working closely with local congregations and other collaborative partners, IM assists refugees by:

  • Locating and securing adequate housing
  • Developing employment opportunities
  • Coordinating English instruction
  • Helping with family reunification
  • Providing Cultural Orientation

Refugee Services provides for the successful resettlement of refugees into the greater Houston area. To accomplish this goal, we utilize the support of local congregations, collaborative partners and other volunteers throughout the year. Through our affiliation with Church World Service and Episcopal Migration Ministries, IM resettled nearly 300 refugees in 2006.

Requirements: All refugee families resettled by IM are legally admitted to the US. Their claim for refugee status has been pre-approved by either the US Department of State's Bureau for Refugee Programs or by US Citizenship and Immigration Services.
