“Giving is the new Thanks” read the shirt of a volunteer who set aside time on Thanksgiving morning to deliver turkey dinners to IM’s Meals on Wheels seniors. Apparently, others felt the same way, as nearly 2,000 people showed up at the First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main St., with coolers in hand – ready to deliver hot meals and a bit of company to nearly 4,500 seniors and veterans. Meals on Wheels Galveston County had its share of volunteers deliver meals to nearly 500 clients.

The Thanksgiving Day event is IM’s largest, and every year our staff are in awe of the number of people who volunteer to make it happen. Thank you, Houston and Galveston, for giving!
