IM expresses its deepest sympathy for the passing of our 41st President, George H. W. Bush, and for his family. As the parent organization of Volunteer Houston (VH), a Points of Light affiliate and Houston’s largest volunteer matching service, IM has taken immense pride in carrying out the president’s 1990 initiative in helping tens of thousands through the spirit of volunteerism.

IM is both pleased and humbled to be a part of the City of Houston’s Dec. 3 celebration of life vigil for President Bush, with Greg Han, IM’s director of Interfaith Relations, coordinating a shared prayer effort.

At the vigil, VH will host a colorful “socks collection” for Meals on Wheels seniors in remembrance of the President’s love for eye-catching socks – an effort led by VH Director Eleanor Gates.

IM looks forward to honoring the president this evening and in the future through serving his beloved city through Volunteer Houston and the many other services IM provides to Houstonians.
