Approximately
three to four times a year, Interfaith Ministries for Greater
Houston in partnership with The Boniuk Center for the Study and
Advancement of Religious Tolerance at Rice University, in conjunction
with a host congregation, bring women from the Greater Houston
Metropolitan Area together for an evening of interfaith dialogue,
education, and fellowship.
These
gatherings provide a place of safe and respectful interaction
between women of varied backgrounds, religions, and beliefs. Women
who do not identify with a particular faith tradition, who are
seeking to discern and develop their beliefs, and those who have
questions about religion are also welcome and encouraged to participate.
The spiritual gatherings help women connect with one another and
seek to promote relationships that promote tolerance, understanding,
and peace in Houston.
The
evenings typically include a vegetarian dinner, music/meditation/prayer
representative of the host congregation, and an educational program
that fosters interfaith understanding. The gatherings are approximately
two hours in length.
Previous
gatherings have been hosted by Live Oak Friends Meeting House,
River Oaks Baptist, St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Hare Krishna
Dham, and the Zoroastrian Association of Houston.
