“On The Wings of Love”, arguably Jeffrey Osborne’s most popular song should be but one of the hits the 60 year old R&B/Pop legend will perform at IM’s 2008 gala, Thursday, June 5, 2008.
The new gala theme will be a trendsetter: “Weaving a Tapestry of Hope for Houston.” This year’s gala co-chairs, Brian and Jacqueline Forster Cooper chose this to be the new trademark as a symbol of IM’s mission, to bring people of diverse faith traditions together for dialogue, collaboration, and service. This new tapestry theme represents IM’s presence in Houston and throughout the world as an entity working daily to weave communities of faith together to address the needs of the community.
The celebration will take place at the prestigious Hilton Americas Hotel downtown on Thursday, June 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a meet and greet reception, followed by dinner and a short program. As always, the dress code is business attire so people can come straight from work. Valet and garage parking will be conveniently available for all attendees. The new location is a premier site and it’s expected to attract a broader audience.
Jeffrey Osborne, the man music industry publication Radio and Records declared “the number one hit maker of the 1980s” has been making music a long time. Beginning with Jeffrey Osborne, his 1982 debut A&M solo album featuring the hit singles, “I Really Don't Need No Light” and the instant standard ballad, “On The Wings Of Love,” Osborne has charted a sure and passionate musical course. A&M and Arista albums such as Stay With Me Tonight, Don’t Stop, One Love, One Dream and Only Human and singles like “Stay With Me Tonight,” “We’re Going All The Way,” “The Last Time I Made Love” and “Only Human” easily transcended being hits to become R&B/pop classics. His powerful vocals will be a welcomed edition to IM’s festivities.
